Steve & Meri's Wedding

I'm still trying to edit pics from our various travels, along with some updated shots of the house and food for Small Time cooks, but I made sure to finish up the pics I took at Steve & Meri's wedding first thing. Thought I would share a few of my favorites from their special day. It was a small wedding, just their immediate family and a group of 8 friends which we were very lucky to be included in. Steve's former bandmate Tim performed the music for the ceremony, which was held in a small outdoor alcove at a Unitarian church. A lunch reception followed at a beautiful and private restaurant. The flowers were done by Meri's sister-in-law, Kuan Yin. Overall it was a wonderful event and we had a great time with our friends. You can see the rest of the pics here.

The Good and The Bad

The bad parts of our trip:
-More turbulence than I care for on our flight in
-So, so many end-of-year school trips, resulting in a constant crowd of annoying kids in matching t-shirts
-Weather that was unable to decide what it wanted to do from one moment to the next
-Skipping out on the White House because of so much rain
-Annoying/confusing street plan
-Lack of really awesome restaurants
-Crappy H&M, resulting in minimal shopping spree

The good parts of our trip:
-An evening with just Steve & Meri, thanks to arriving in town before anyone else
-Spending time with Diggy, seeing sites and eating junk food
-Finding Phillip L. Mascari on the Vietnam Vet Memorial
-A beautiful ceremony and reception
-Wedding night pub time with family and friend's
-Seeing Kermit & Oscar the Grouch at American History Museum
-The Golden Girls marathon on TV

Just a quick, general recap of our trip. I've got a good amount of stuff to do before I leave again Wednesday afternoon, so pics and more will have to wait.

Also, I HIGHLY recommend making time to clean house before you go out of town. It was so wonderful to come home to a clean and tidy place. Not being faced with rooms full of chores was so nice. We were able to grab a few groceries, unpack, and after two loads of laundry were ready to enjoy a movie and start the work week.

Vacation with a Capital V

We have our next vacation in the pipeline. We'll be headed to Washington DC at the end of May. This trip will be killing a lot of birds with one stone. With one simple vacation I'll be crossing an item off my life to-do list, I'll be working on two NY resolutions (to travel more and to cross of 5 things from that life list) and we'll be attending our wonderful friends' wedding while there. I miss Steve & Meri terribly and will be so glad to see them, even if it is for an event that won't allow a lot of visiting time. It's a very small wedding, so not so bad but we all know how hectic weddings can be. And Josh has already acquiesced to my need to jam-pack our few days with as much sightseeing as possible. There are so many places I want to travel to that when I get a chance to go I feel the need to see everything that I couldn't suffer missing, just in case I never get to go back. Because I always want to go back, but then there's always that growing list of other places to see, ha. I can't wait to walk the National Mall and see the Museums of Natural History and American History. I love to learn on my vacations and I can scarcely think of a better place for a homegrown educational holiday than our country's capital.

Celebrating

Tonight after work we'll be heading to the rehearsal for Spencer & Deb's wedding. I am super excited for them. Spencer is one of our bestest, closest, longest friends and Deb is a very sweet woman who he loves very much. I'm so proud of Spencer for getting to this point, after some rougher times in the past. Spencer was best man at our wedding, and Josh will be his groomsman. They're also getting married at the YWCA Building, like us, so I've been looking at our wedding pictures and reminiscing. Yay for Spencer & Deb and for love!

Weekend Roundup

Friday:
-Wake up early
-Unload dishwasher
-Sit on couch and watch TV
-Eat chicken noodle soup
-Sit on couch some more
-Sleep on couch
-Wake up just before Josh gets home
-Get dressed
-Go to store for sick supplies
-Eat Chipotle
-Decorate Christmas tree
-Go to bed

Saturday:
-Sleep in
-Lay in bed watching 30 Rock
-Eat chicken pot pie, chicken noodle soup, strawberry ice cream and gold fish crackers through the course of the day
-Shower
-Get ready
-Head to Dallas for Chemistry Set show
-Hang out with Diggy, Steve & Meri
-Eat a crappy grilled cheese sandwich and fries
-Visit with the Sea Lion boys
-Enjoy the show with Diggy
-Say our goodbyes and head home
-Go to bed super late- 3:00 AM!

Sunday:
-Sleep in
-Make grocery list
-Shower
-Rush to get ready
-Head to YWCA for Carrie & Casey's wedding
-Enjoy the ceremony
-Hang out at the reception with Spencer & Deb discussing their wedding plans, wedding #3 in the trilogy, ha
-Head home
-Change clothes and go grocery shopping, despite still being a little drunk from the reception :)
-Eat a frozen pizza
-Wrap Ann & Kim's gifts for Hoover family Christmas
-Hit the hay
-Have very fitful night of sleeping, resulting in me sleeping in going in to work late this morning

Wedding Wears

Josh and I have a wedding to go to in a week and a half and I've been having trouble figuring out what to wear. Emily came to my rescue with some great advice though. I'll be going shopping this weekend with Steph, so I'll be looking for a little something like this. Thanks again Emily!
