Recent Addition

No, no babies or new pets in our household, but there is a small bundle of joy making us smile in the living room. I haven't blogged in ages (that is to say I haven't blogged for ME in ages, since I'm most definitely still working over at Simple Things), but I had to pop in to share our new addition. We moved the law office to a smaller space as we distribute client files and start shutting things down, so there was a LOT of purging going on. One thing we definitely didn't need anymore were the ancient client information cards stored in small card catalog drawers. When we emptied them and stacked them on the floor, inspiration struck and I knew I needed to take them home with me rather then chuck them in the Goodwill pile. Yesterday I finally found the time to arrange them just so and now we have a nice, new, old side table. I'm over the moon with how well they tie in to the gray wall color, and how they even out the height difference between our IKEA chair and shell rocker, unifying that side of the room. Now all it needs is a terrarium. Right?

On The Home Front

So, I finally got off my lazy butt and called two foundation repair companies to come out and give us free estimates on the house. It is quite apparent to us that the house doesn't want to just shift back to where it was, and something needs to be done before it gets much worse. It will undoubtedly be a horrifically stressful experience for me, but I'll make it out the other side in one piece I'm sure. And, at Holly's wise suggestion, I've got beer in the fridge for post estimate wallowing. We've got a decent amount in the house fund, so hopefully we can mitigate the damage on the bank account. But this is just one aspect of continuing to make our home a happy and healthy place to be. Upon approval from Josh I ordered new dining room chairs today. I am so sick of our old chairs, which are pretty worn out at this point. I'm going to try and clean them up some and hopefully get a little scratch for them on Craigslist. I'm excited about the new chairs though! We ordered the copy cat eiffel-base shell chairs from overstock.com in white. I'm fully aware that I'm late to the trend, although I would like to state that I'm not so much late to the trend, as late to the purchase. I've wanted these chairs for quite sometime, but just now was able to buy them. Yay chairs! Also, yay overstock.com's $2.95 shipping on 4 chairs.

Confession Time

I've come to the realization that I am addicted to the color white. Particularly when it comes to furniture. Seriously. I can't explain the obsession, but white is what I like. Our current furniture menagerie:




















And I will hopefully soon be welcoming this piece into our abode.




If only this obsession were limited to furniture.



Do you think there is a 12-step program out there for me? While we're at it I probably need to find an Ikea Anonymous group too.

Bedroom

So, the last things we need to replace in the bedroom are the bedside tables. We currently have cheap, mismatched tables that suited us before, but don't match any of the new(er) furniture that we've gotten since we got married. I'm thinking about this table for each of us. I currently have a table with a drawer and a shelf, so I require that of any new table I might get. Josh currently has what is more of a modular 12" square bookcase, so anything would be a relative improvement over that. Bonus is they're only $50 each, so I'd probably spend the $12 or so to replace the knobs on them with little green ones from Anthropologie. So, here is the rest of our bedroom accoutrements. Think these tables will work out alright?

Cure for Insomnia?

Probably not, but you never know. I just ordered the West Elm headboard that I'd been keeping my eye on lately. Aside from needing new bedside tables, it's the last big piece of furniture I was looking to replace. I got a lovely note from West Elm advising me that they were having a bedroom sale, and it turned out they were kind enough to mark my desired object down $40. It will be a while before it arrives, but I need to get a new bed frame and some risers, so that's not really a bad thing. I'm definitely still feeling a bit down about yesterday's events, but this has helped to raise my spirits.























I've got all sorts of ideas swirling in my head about how to spend the lovely 4 day weekend ahead of me. I'm imagining Baked Ruffles with fat-free ranch dip, some good movies, and working on my cleaning list. And of course some quality time with the hubster.
